Was infantry marine officer, left as captain. Everything stinks, sour patch is the tastiest thing imaginable, and people are a special kind of retarded. I always had a few attachments to my platoon, and some were better than others at not being stupid. The photogs weren't the worst by a wide margin, though. Still, it's such a weird sort of thing, being attached to a functioning unit like that. I mean, it makes sense at a macro level -- you can influence national policy on multiple levels if you have a camera, but on a personal level it just doesn't make sense to not have a gun. Was always fun talking gear and lighting and perspective and composition with 'war photographers' who didn't know jack about any of that and just shot non-stop, machine-gun level shutter spray-and-pray with their top-notch gear that they took shit care of.
