>>2649039>I honestly don't get it either when people say things like "shooting film" or "shooting black and white" will make you a better photographer. That's because you haven't fucking done it yet. Get over yourself, you minuscule nobody.
They're all "good" black and white films. Every single one of them. They just have different character, but I'm not going to tell you what or how. The discovery of the character of each film is one of the great joys in photography, and I wouldn't dare rob that from you. Start with Tri-X or Neopan (which is more or less what you have pictured).
Buy a cheap manual film camera. Buy a couple bricks of one kind of film. Not rolls, bricks. Better yet, buy it by the 100 foot roll and spool your own cassettes.
Go buy a multi-roll developing tank, something that holds four or five or eight reels of 35mm film. You do that for efficiency, but also for consistency. Develop your own film. Don't send it out. Do not send it out. If you want to print, that's cool too, but it gets expensive quickly. Scanning is fine in 2015, though printing is much cooler.
Do this for a few months, and then we can talk.
We both know you won't, though. You're looking for someone to recommend a few different rolls that you can play with just to satisfy your own smug preconceptions.
So go pick up some Neopan, brah! Shit's cash!
