Am I the only one that shoots film because has 0 patience and 0 willing to post-produce my own stuff (digital)?
I mean, in my day2day job Im on photoshop all day, so when I got home after shooting the last thing I want to do is open PS or LR to "work" my snapshits.
What keeps you motivated to shoot film guise?

If it's not bait then this individual probably shoots a roll, sends it out for developing and scanning and is fine with whatever is sent back. If used this way it does take out any PP steps, though I personally would not do this.

poor? get an older used DSLR. spend maybe $300 for the system and you're set for a long while.

with trix costing $6 per roll and up, and then adding in the price for post ($200 for a scanner, or be prepared to pay ~$2 per sheet for optical printing)

self-dev is much cheaper than taking it to the store.

however, you're still missing my point entirely. what I'm saying is that digital is far far cheaper than film these days. take a look at your total film+dev+scanning costs and see how many shots you get for $300. it's not much, plus you have zero control over the scanning and digital processing.

I thought if I shot film I wouldn't need to edit my pictures. Even with scanning you need a bit of touch up just to make your pictures look like the do on the actual film. It's hell.

I just shot a wedding on film and I regret everything. There is no way the results will not disappoint.

Where can I buy the chemicals to develop color, B&W, and slide film?
What equipment do I need?
Is printing your own stuff too expensive? I'm also in a poor situation.

I had my medium format camera but it was just faster to use my 35mm. Speed was more important than quality. Also this wasn't a paid gig. It was just a favor along with all the other things I had to do at the wedding.

I'll tell you tomorrow after I see the results. I shot fuji pro 400h which people have gotten good results from but I never liked anything I shot with it. I was going to buy some portra but places where closed. Also it's 35mm so it will likely look very amateurish. I only shot 4 rolls which is not enough. I brought a lot of film but people wanted to take pictures when the good light was gone, it was outdoors. Also there were just a lot more pictures I should have taken that I didn't because of time.

Knowing what I know now I would:
>Get everything ready the day before not the day of.
>Buy "wedding" film.
>Take way more shots. There is no reason to hold back.
>Use all my equipment including my medium format.
>Don't do anything but shoot pictures unless it directly helps you take pictures.
>Fallow the bride wherever she goes.
>Some people are higher priority then others when you are taking their picture.
>Don't get drunk.
>Maybe a little.

Some of these things were not under my control but I did learn a lot.

chemicals can be bought as dry powder from bhphoto. for wet chemicals (photo flo and others) I've had good experiences with camulet photo.

you need:
-changing bag
scissors
-bottle opener
-light tight developing tank
-film reels to fit the tank
-a range of airtight bottles to store chemicals
-measuring cups
-syringes for measuring small volumes
-thermometer able to accurately measure between 10-50C

black and white chemicals:
-developer
-stop solution
-fixer
-photo flo

colour negative film:
-tetenal c-41 kit or similar (the liquid based kit is easier to portion out over time)

printing gets expensive in a hurry, yes. every test print costs money, and it's going to be a lot of test prints for every image.

ive always just done it in a bathroom or closet or something that doesnt have windows and its turned out fine. save 20 bucks and just turn the lights off.

Gotta remember to make custom setting for "people" and "things" though! The difference between setting +3 Sat and +5 Sat can make or break a shot.
