What if they made a digital 35mm sensor strip, right, and kept it contained in a one-sided cartridge, with the battery, micro-sd card, etc, fitting in where you normally put the cartridge. Then, you just unroll the leader for the sensor strip, and stick it in the winder, so the camera just unrolls more of the sensor to take the next picture on. Make it refresh a couple hundred times per second, looking for light to hit the strip, and record for the length of time the light hits it, and record the data to the card as one exposure. After it reaches the end of the roll, rewind the sensor strip to the beginning, and shoot some more, until you fill the card, or you're done shooting. That way, it works like a normal roll of film.
