>>2662603I never really use the hybrid finder. I switch between the optical and electronic. I hardly ever use the rear screen unless I need to take a shot from a funny angle.
Manual focusing is not good on this camera, I'll specify it's the original x100, not the x100s or x100t. OP wanted to know about the original because they're getting quite cheap second hand now.
If you want to manually focus still objects it's fine, focusing peaking doesn't work great but it works okay. The distance scale isn't very useful but I do consult it sometimes to double check (I leave my camera in manual focus mode so the scale shows up, and use back button auto focus). The rear screen is your best bet for manual focusing, I use it to scan film, if you use the magnify view it's good enough to see grain, but keep in mind that I only ever really use it for still objects like plants or buildings.
You can use the distance scale and a narrow aperture for really effective zone focusing though, the distance scale shows depth of field.
>>2662605Agreed, for that price point it's a great carry-around camera. I paid either £650, or £600 for mine soon after it came out, I remember the black model wasn't released yet. If I had the money again I'd go for the black one. I have my top function button set to ISO, and the back one set to depth of field preview.
