New Sigma 30mm 2.8 arrived today. I tried doing some tests and it seems like there's hardly and difference between the Sigma and the Sony 16-50mm kit lens.

I don't know what i'm doing but for consistency I set the Sony at 30mm, and had both lenses at f9.0, 100iso.

I also might be doing it wrong by taking a close up photo, but the only noticeable difference for me is the Sigma has slightly sharper edges. I thought I was going to see a crazy difference in sharpness. Was this meant to be it?

I'm new to photography so I don't even know what to expect from a lens. Can anybody chime in?
