Nobody here gives a shit if you do this or not. It's for you. If your first action upon seeing your task is to vocally express to everyone around how stupid and impossible it is, rather than being even a LITTLE bit positive, or trying to problem solve, then I think it's pretty obvious that photography isn't for you. It's fine. Just keep collecting your gear telling yourself that you're a better artist than that guy with the 7D because you would have better dynamic range if you ever decided to actually take a photo with your camera.
If you decide to stop being a bitch, you can realize that literally your entire brief is "a police officer" so you can interpret that however you want. Have one of your friends get a halloween costume of a cop and dress up doing something ridiculous. Get a cop stripper. Go take an actual portrait of an older police officer getting ready for retirement. Go to the police station and talk to someone for five minutes.
