the flip side to this is that used leicas mean nothing to collectors unless they are old and rare, damaged leicas mean even less. the 'damage' can be as little as wear on the strap lugs showing a strap has been mounted (which drops the value of the body by half)
tl,dr; go buy dented shit. its cheap. i own two lightly cosmetically damaged bodies currently I got for next to nothing, and another i sold for a ton of cash after i fixed it.
i got an M6 for for only a few hundred bucks, as the top plate was dinged. This was considered to be a total loss for the camera, as repairing it correctly required shipping it to the factory anyway, as a new top plate had to be engraved.
i just shoot it with the dent. who gives a shit?
