Very exciting photos to watch. I love the fact that they didn´t just bother with some small and simple point and shoot of the time, but they actually chose medium format Hasselblad. The resolution and detail of the pictures are amazing!
Reminds me of the time when they actually dragged a huge imax camera on top of the Mount Everest.

35mm to MF is basically what MFT/APS-C is to 35mm/"Full Frame" now if you are going on a multi jillion dollar space mission the MF choice is quite natural isnt it

Yeah but not when you already have a very limited payload as it is. I don't know how much they weigh as well as all of the gear you need to bring along with it but I image all together weighs a good 30+ lbs. Couod be a difficult choice when a point and shoot or small slr or two would get a useable effect

I can see why they didn't release this archive until now - most of the shots are sloppy or redundant. There are some really awesome ones though. You can really tell the reason for the Apollo 11 mission looking at the 30 or so shots of the American flag they planted up there. "Just one minute guys, I'm going to shoot 3 rolls of film of the out the window of the flag out there"
