Can someone explain to me how in the hell a 1020mah Li-On battery can possibly take longer than 1 hour to charge? What the fuck was Sony thinking? This piece of shit lasts 30 minutes in the camera and they seriously think it's acceptable to wait 5 hours for a recharge?

You should carry extra batteries and/or get a battery grip.

The Sony chargers only charge at 1/2 of an amp, so if you use another charger it will charge faster, but will be harder on the battery. I have an a6000 and get about 5 hours on a charge. As long as you are diligent about turning the camera off when you are not using it the battery lasts a pretty long time.

the charger sony supplied is 0.5A. that is what you get out of your pc usb.

i record 6-8min videos daily, take pictures sparsely and i get about a week of usage

These generally will still only do 0.5A (as per the USB specification), or require a specific setup to trigger higher voltage / current.

Granted, there's also the USB battery charging specification that does like... 1-1.5A, but I wouldn't have too much hope that this is supported on most power supply units, unless you're using a more fancy 3rd party one.

Tl;Dr: You can try, but I don't think it is very likely to work.

At state fair with my a7 using a manual only lens.
Auto shut down at 2 minutes.
EVF only.
RAW file mode.
OEM battery.
Started at 11am, 46% battery left.
Ended at midnight, 12% battery left.
750 images shot.
What the hell do all of you do to "only get 30 minutes", "only a hundred shots".
What do you do leave the camera on all the time?

Got 3 third party asian type ass batteries and an external charger. Charges a dead battery in maybe 30 minutes or so. Last shooting was from about 4pm-10pm and I ended up with about 30% left.

No, most phone chargers will do more as per the phone manufacturers specification.

Charging your phone with a dedicated wall charger is usually way faster than doing it through a regular USB port.

The slower the charge, the longer the lifetime of the battery, personally I'd rather it took 8 hours. It's good to know fuji are doing there best to trick you into buying overpriced accessories.

And if you don't want to wait that long, use a more powerful phone/tablet charger, 2 amp is the largest I've seen and would bring the time well under an hour.

... as per your phone manufacturer's specification, that would only happen if the device indicates that the specification is supported. Qualcomm does it one way (Quick Charge ... maybe 2.0), Mediatek has another (Pump Express Plus), other vendors have other specs.

In pretty much all cases, without both ends supporting them, nothing will happen - it's not like the respective manufacturers want get sued over millions of busted devices 'cause they violated the USB spec, after all.
