You just have to do it and negotiate every day as it comes. But the fact that a part of the population tries to make it scary to do this is precisely why I do it. Because fuck that, and fuck them.
If stupid douchebags hadn't tried to tell me to stop doing it I probably would have got bored ages ago. Now it's become a matter of principle and general public enlightenment, not to mention making a path for photographers to do what we should be doing - shooting anyhting freely without fear - that which judgemental douchebags cannot even comprehend.
...and of course Iv'e met so many people that actual friends evolve out of it.
At the end of the day it is all about some dumbfuck presuming to judge your worth as a human being, and daring to act on their incorrect and irrelevant presumptions and prejudice.
If I was a hot 20-something female I'd have never got this much flack, and I'd be on a pedestal as a model creative citizen.
But I'm a white, cis, 40-something male, so apparently I'm a pervert/pedo/evil who takes photos to make people uncomfortable.
So much ignorant and plainly false stereotyping that I can't even.
Anyone who wants to come and hang out, and smile at people while we shoot the cool looking ones in the face, is welcome to do so. I broadly encourage it. Almost all of the people I shoot are friendly or dgaf. The sooner you realise that the easier it becomes to pick the cunts and not bother shooting them.
