For mirrorless it's perfectly usable.
For a dslr it's a quick way to unwanted exposures.

I only shoot manual on my Sony a7, mainly shoot aperture priority but sometimes iso sensitive on my k5ii

Because every time you see a terribly under or over exposed picture on /p/, 90% chance it was shot in M mode.
