anyone else caught into the photobook craze?

im currently more interested in making photobooks than photos tbh

the idea of making a coherent and closed piece of work is very appealing for me. currently i have about 5 projects in mind: 3 that are mine, a collab, and something im editing for a friend

i can literally put someones elses photos together in a book (as editor) or past sets that i have now streamlined. i need to unload the stuff ive done into paper before going further, got it, pal?

that works well and also looking at all the stuff youve shoot at once (printed, over a table ideally) can give you an idea of your main themes or interests. there are various types of book binding that are pretty easy to do. zine format works wonders too.

I just figured I would make a book for myself first using any of the numerous online one-off publishing services, or just go to a print shop. I don't think for even a second that anyone else would want a book of my photos

I went to an exhibition of Jak Tuggener's photobook Fabrik this summer. It was an early, if not the first, example of a photobook without descriptions, leaving the photos to tell a story by themselves. Pretty well done, the guide spoke as thought it was the most important publication of the 20th century, which I felt was a bit over the top, but it's definitely worth a look.

Only upload images that you, the photographer, have taken.
Post only photos that show at least trace amounts of thoughtful composition. Do not upload random snapshots.
Even though EXIF data is made available when encoded, please post as much relevant technical information as possible, such as: camera, kit, lens, etc.
Include a short description with your photograph, such as when and where it was photographed and under what circumstances.
As with the art critique board, only constructive criticism will be tolerated.

None of the above leaves room for anything about curation and bindings and shit like that. Go to >>>/diy/ for playing with construction paper and huffing glue. This board is and should be for actually taking pcitures.

Nope, it does not. It has to do with shit like binding selections, printing, and the like. This is DIY territory. If you want to talk about curation processes, that's almost appropriate for here, but "DUR I MAKE BOOK, I LIEK BETTER THAN TAKE PICTURE" is 100% fucking *NOT* /p/

one (which exists already) depicts some everyday banality through objects. lots of color work.

2nd is a joint project with a friend whom we have points in common with 2 specific series, still seeing how well be merge them

3rd is a documenting of a trip

4th is a book ill edit for a friend, with b&w MF pictures of flowers. theyre gorgeous and ill think itll look fucking cool.

5th is about skyscrapers in small city.
