>>2897718Battery life: Meh. Went through the first battery after 300, the second battery had a reported two-thirds left after another 100. It doesn't help that there doesn't seem to be a way to send the camera into a sleep/quick-wake mode. Turning off then on takes a couple seconds before you can shoot, and even longer if you want to go into image review. I had the camera set to EVF Only/Eye Sensor so that the EVF would only turn on with my eye up to the camera. I quickly realized it didn't matter because if I had the camera on the sling against my body, the EVF would be on anyways. OIS also seems to be always on when the camera is on. Mine was set to shooting only though. You can hear the whirr.
XF 18-55: Real gem of a lens. I think it really lives up to the hype. Fast, small, light, fast. The aperture ring is more of a hindrance, since you have no idea what the aperture really is until you look at the viewfinder.
XF 56: Fast, sharp, autofocus manages to keep up, not terribly large. Pretty versatile focal length on club-level or old-style tracks. And great to shoot portraits of people trackside to show off that track rat lifestyle.
XC50-230: Pretty small lens. Autofocus is a little slow for head-on tracking. Out of focus to in focus racking is slow. The body is plastic, definitely lighter and hollower than the XF metal body lenses. Not quite as solid as Nikon's G series plastics. Sharp lens though, and pretty cheap. Pick one up for your cheap telephoto needs. No need for the XF 55-200; might as well get the 50-140.
Hoods: Holy shit my least favourite hoods ever. The Nikon ones you just jam on any which way and twist until it locks. The Fujis only have about 2x 30 degrees where the hood will mount in the appropriate position such that it will lock when turned. If you don't have it in the right position, it will, at best, just refuse to lock, or at worst, jam up and strip the plastic on the hood a little. FUCK. Fuji could also do with a polarizer compatible hood.
