For this sort of stuff you might want to take a look at focus stacking. There is no reason any part of the frame excepting the plain background should not be in focus. Also, some of the plants are just böring.

>>2862108With this one a shallower depth of field is alright because it appears intentional. (General tip: in a good staged photo, everything must appear intentional). All in all the subject and composition are pretty boring though.

You want to focus on the ones that kinda transcend photos you would find in a botanical magazine and show off the beauty with thoughtful composition.
