not too horrible, thats about where I was when i started out. You have hints of having a sharp eye for noticing things. pick up a "cheap" close up lens, 105 maybe? but most importantly keep shooting, and shoot everything.

Depends what you mean by superior. If you mean keep your images 100% faithful then flickr is probably the best option, however with that platform you are only ever going to reach other photographers interested only in furthering their own reach. Instagram is good because normies use it and a lot more people in general. Instagram has a better community also

Flickr is the only non-stock photography website which large scale companies regularly use to gain access to useful images.

I know this because I regularly licence photographs from Flickr for use in business catalogues, company magazines and online content. I believe that this year alone my company has spent around $12'000 on flickr so far. The figure for instagram is zero. We don't believe that having our content linked back to that company would be prudent as the Flickr community is dominantly seen as a collection of dedicated amateur and seasoned photographers, while instagram makes people think of a free phone app used by flaneurs and dilettantes.

in the camera roll section on the bottom left of each picture is the icon. You have to toggle it on to be viewed by others and in the main menu you have to allow public viewing. But even if activated you need to "give out business cards" ie lurk other flickrs and like them, join groups and pass around your account on social media if you have that

if you want more personal interaction you should use instagram

Yes and no...problem is it's the same shots again and again. Technically excellent but after seeing 1000 shots of Gulfoss and the Wanaka tree / assorted backlit deer / the Milky Way above spectacular mountain ranges you do start to wish for a little variation.
