Infrared Photography on film

Hello, there. This is my first thread, sorry if there is any rule that I don't respect. I got a Rollei infrared 400 film and a Cokin 89B filter (IR) and I want to try some infrared photography. Any advice? I am using a Canon EOS 5 at this moment.Thanks

My advice is to post stupid film questions in the film thread, but also to not use IR film in an EOS 5.

I doubt an EOS camera with IR sensors would fog Rollei film. It was a problem with Kodak HIE, but that film had much higher sensitivity at the top of its IR range than anything currently shipping.

Don't bet an important shoot on it, but it's worth a test roll to find out.

Infra by Richard Mosse is pretty dope if it hasn't been mentioned yet. From the wiki regarding the camera used: For his infrared photographs he used a large format camera and the now-discontinued Kodak Aerochrome film. Aerochrome is a false-color infrared film originally intended for aerial vegetation surveys and for military reconnaissance, such as to identify camouflaged targets. It registers a spectrum of infrared light invisible to the human eye, rendering the green landscape and soldiers' uniforms in vivid hues of lavender, crimson and hot pink.

you will need a tripod. there arent any infrared films left that are fast enough to really use handheld. rollei infrared has an effective iso of about 12 with a infrared filter on.

You can get 35mm stuff for 20 bucks

I don't know if it's actually aerochrome or some other similar film but it gives the same effect.
It's also pretty easy to convert a digital camera to get the same effect if you remove the IR blocking filter.
