He used to post his large format snapshits on here at high res which was always nice. He stopped after he found someone on ebay selling a print of something he had uploaded only here.

I believe he preferred Portra 400 but I am not sure.

Absolutely, you just need to be more careful of the exposure. Knowing what the exp is for the subject and the highlights/shadows surroundings will help you select a precise exposure.

Yeah, good exposures are good exposures. You just get less working space in the highlights and more in the shadows, so expose for the highlights.

Well shit, I just came back from the mountains and it looks like there's a thread about me. Been developing film this morning, might as well post a new image or two since this seems like an appropriate place.

Here's some Ektar from a hike yesterday morning. I love the days before a monsoonal weather system moves in, the 4 mile hike in the dark is wonderfully cool and the air is incredibly still. The lake at the end of this stream was a perfect reflection but it doesn't have an exciting foreground so I went back towards the stream.

Hey! I made that several years ago! I can't believe anybody saved it.

At the time, I was going for an Alex Top 10. I definitely think I'd keep most of those. The bales of hey, the irrigation system, the silos, and the snowy B&W trees are still top favorites.

I think I might replace a few of the others.

I know it doesn't pay the bills, but I really love his oil work the best.

From a purely technical standpoint, I think this is one of his best photos ever. The colors are perfect. The exposure is perfect. The focus is perfect. The composition is surreal it's so perfect.

I don't know if it's an all-time favorite of mine, because I think he has more interesting subjects, but from a purely technical standpoint, this is damn near flawless.

For fuck's sake. We're shitting on the fact that Alex got massive exposure? What the fuck else do you want him to do? He's a photographer. He makes money selling photographs. People only buy his photographs if they know who he is. Being featured on a high traffic photography website is about as good as it gets.

I love Alex, but I won't for a moment defend petapixel. The site is a shitty photography clickbait site. That said, it is a good place for exposure and good for Alex for taking advantage of that.

Note I also think Facebook is cancer, but I wouldn't judge anyone for marketing through it.

The article only got 1800 shares when other articles can get 100x that, so calling it massive exposure is an overstatement. Not shitting on alex or petapixel. I hope it helps him, but its not life changing.
Theyll publish just about any shit they find remotely interesting. Hes not the first /p/haggot to get published there. Last year they asked me to write about my snapshits. It didnt make me famous in the least, and got fewer views than alex's article, lol. But it was fun though.
