They're definitely not your standard cameras, but the image quality is out of this world, assuming you use proper technique. In case of the Z you're looking at 15 stops DR at ISO100 and a usable 12,800, so there's not much this camera can't do within reason. HDR is dead.
They also use different color filters with higher purity than your typical DSLR, which makes them look worse under bad light, but you get far more accurate and distinct color in good light, with even the slightest variations in chroma being rendered truthfully.
>>2910241It kind of evens out when you consider that the larger sensor has an inherently lower DoF, meaning you need a smaller aperture to maintain the same depth of field. What does seem interesting to me though, is that for some reason medium format has a higher impression of depth than FF35, meaning that when viewed at 100% both images may seem similarly out of focus, but taken as a whole the focus transition is much smoother on MF. With your typical 35mm camera the focal plane is almost razor-sharp in its definition.
