I liked these threads because I like sharing my photos and having other people share their photos.
you don't have to like concert photography. you can like taking creep shots of women on the street and I won't judge you. I don't give a shit.
it's just the lack of discussion. I remember seeing everyone get approved for shows for the first time. everyone is shooting theaters and shit now and it's cool.
nobody is getting paid but guess what, 95% of the photos posted on this board aren't generating any money either. you can attack concert photographers for not making very much money as if someone having an interest/hobby and not making money is a huge problem. free concerts are enough incentive for many people.
I wanted to reach the point where I could go on a tour and share my photos here more often. it was nice having a platform to discuss with other photographers and share what we've been up to but it's literally not worth it anymore. this board has been the only place I've had on the internet to discuss photography outside of a handful of friends through whatever form of social media.
it's nice having critical conversations where we actually discuss what can be done to improve our photos, not just calling them shit and insulting my physical appearance with nothing real to actually bring to the table.
it's nice having conversations with other photographers about something I plan on devoting more and more time to over the years. it's nice to not just show friends of mine these photos and get an auto hoorah.
but here we are, at the point where people (prob 1 person) will quadruple post insults instead of having a discussion.
I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. maybe I'll guest list some people in the spring to take some photos and we can chat then.
