Any thoughts on avoiding the blown out sky without shooting for an HDR? I took this on my phone but I was wondering about maybe using an ND GRAD if i had had my real camera, but I fear detail would be gone from the trees.

It looks sort of misty which I actually like, but in reality it was sunny.
