Canon finally moved to on chip ADCs. Their newest sensors are in the 13ev range like almost everyone else. (Nikon is using Sony Exmor but they are squeezing a bit more out of it than Sony themselves. Not sure how/why.)
You can randomly pick two Sony's or a Sony and a Nikon and get differences of 0.5ev. That's nothing in the real world.
