Does anyone here use the OVF more than their EVF on Fuji cams? I feel like I rarely use it as I can't find situations where the OVF would be the better option

You went with fuji, you knew it had a shit evf, no flash, no lenses, no ibis, no full frame, no software support, no ergonomics.

And look where we are. You wouldn't be complaining if you bought a sony.

Yea, I thought I could justify using the OVF more and it will just come in time, hopefully. I just wondering if anyone else had the same problem

I use the OVF far more often. It's nice having more than 100% vf coverage, and i turned off image review so that I don't get any viewfinder blackout. It also encourages me to chimp less (I can pre-chimp with the EVF if i need to, but i've been doing this for a while and i rarely need to, especially with live histogram), which encourages me to move on and try other shots and shoot more often.

Plus the EVF on the x100s just feels a little sluggish to me. It's not terrible, but it's still not the same.

So, yeah. 90% ovf, live histogram and bubble level always on.

You get used to it. Dslr's make you think that absolutely everything has to be precisely placed within the frame for it to be a good photo, but that's just not true. A lot of truly great photos were sloppily framed, but had great composition nonetheless. It's more about the moment and the space and the perspective than the geometry, ya know? Learn to relax.

And what else would you want? FF, Ibis, best lenses, adaptability, compact, good flash system, tetherable, works perfectly with all software.

I like it for snapshots. No blackout is the greatest advantage; you can premeditate the next frame to the point of snap-judgement (rather than snapshit) while shooting the current one.

When I've got the time to set things up, I go EVF.

I don't use the rear display for shooting.

I use an X-Pro 2 on wedding shoots with the 90mm lens. Although the framelines are narrow with a tele, you get loads of field of view through the OVF around the shot, so you don't get tunnel vision and can just 'grab' reportage shots.

I fucking hate how the focusing point in the OVF doesn't change sizes, and it's not really at the same position it shows you when you are at close focusing distances.

Fucking hate it.
I just wish my x-pro2 could keep the EVF screen up all the time instead of popping it up mechanically

Depends on which fuji you have, If you have the X100T, I feel the OVF is better because you get all the same settings and functions with that little window that pops up outside of seeing what your photo looks like in realtime.

I own an X100S and use the OVF 99% of the time outside of super low light/ night time photos. I like being to look at what comes in and out of the frame and no EVF lag. I also turn off the back screen on my camera too though. Saves battery and I don't really look at it when all the relevant settings are in the viewfinder/dials.

You're right. I've never seen an EVF that had problems with internal reflections before I used a Sony.
