Ricoh is doing a good job reviving them and I guess we can expect quite a few new lenses, fast primes amongst them. Currently the biggest help is from Tamron licensing their best zoom designs for the D-FA 15-35 and 24-70 with Ricoh did an excellent job with the new in-house designs on the D-FA 70-200/2.8 and 150-450 zooms.
I say hobby use is mostly covered by the Limited and Star primes with some of the Star series being Pro-level quality although starting to show their age on the new high resolution sensors (DA* 16-50/2.8 for starters)
The budget hobby range is covered pretty well with some of the lenses being very competitive with the Canon-Nikon-Sony equivalents.
Well, it isn't hard beating Sonys budget stuff, but you get the idea.
