My point was that sometimes the light just isn't good or the scene isn't set up right - of course I'm basing this off my own method of going out and taking photos, not setting up scenes in a studio so what you said might apply better to other photographers.
Lemme put it this way, I go out multiple times a week and bring my camera with me, in the event I manage to find a scene or particular light that speaks to me enough. But I don't bother to bring the camera out unless I feel that urgency to do so. There's nothing to "practice" really, I don't just randomly shoot things hoping something turns out. I just wait for the right moment.
