There are some predefined resolutions that may have some importance for videos, like 1920x1080, but those are of no relevance for photography.
I could say that a high resolution should be better, but even that is disputable, the success of lomography, instagram, and "retro" trends shows low image quality is not always perceived as low photography quality.
you could then think of the sensor's native resolution, but then sticking to exactly that is also limiting as it suggests that you are forbidden to crop, and must follow the same aspect ratio no matter the scene taken. taking less of the area can make make for a more impactful shot. or stiching several takes into a panorama for a larger area can also be worth it.
tldr; just do whatever.
