Bought a Canon 550d and an older tampon 18-200mm to mess with canon. Cost me £180 total, currently shooting with a d3300.

OP, this is a stupid decision and a waste of money. Should have stick with the system you are learning on and step ahead with that system.
Switching systems always costs more money but the results will be no different. You do a large print from both systems you will not be able to tell the difference.
