And those lenses tend not to be very practical - for example, I've got a few meme voigtlanders, but I almost never shoot them because autofocus gets me results faster.
Canikon's pro telephotos from the 90s are still amazing optically, but no one wants them anymore since their IS/VR successors are vastly more practical. Screwmount Takumars are still great, but are routinely sold for the price of a McDonalds meal since the few people who shoot manual focus want something more interesting. Etc.
Very few lenses have actually appreciated in value when inflation is considered.
