Take your time with the script, and any prep work (budgeting, storyboarding, location scouting, especially casting). Save money where you can, and try to make it as "cheap" as you can without cutting corners (stay safe FFS).
It's huge task, but I find it best to break it into smaller tasks, and if you can - find a collaborator or two to help make those tasks even smaller.
-Use your GH4 Rig - there's no sense in renting a camera if you already have one. Make sure you rent good sound gear/get good sound people with the gear.
-Make absolutely sure that your footage & sound are backed up (at least to 2 other HD's - at least 1 stored in a separate location, and backup CD/DVDs of audio if possible).
-Make sure you budget for Post (sound/music, DCP, DVD/BD), publicity info (poster, bios, one-liner/summary etc), Festival Entry, and finally Legal stuff (copyright, clearances etc).
-Getting it into the right hands so to speak is a choice between hiring a plubicist+sales agent or essentially selling the film yourself to distributors depending on what the situation is (if/which festivals it gets into, what market you're in).
Can't think of anything more at the moment, I really need more coffee/tea.
