It's a fast portrait lens, the corners should never be in focusYes, but there's a difference between being out of focus and straight out soft, on a portrait, the edges are almost never going to be on the same plane as the eyes, so the corners are going to be soft from bokeh.
And it's not limited to that lens, every lens except the zooms in their sweet spots has this issue. Their head lens designer just has a massive stick up his ass.
