Because its a Pentax. They have a history (long before the Hoya and Ricoh buyout rescues) of making ONE absolutely fantastic camera .. every 15 years. The Spotmatic - groundbreaking, the LX was the Rolls-Royce of manual film cameras. Later on the Z-1/PZ-1 was a 'better' AF cam, but with digital they lost the plot much like Kodak did. Their new masters are trying desperately to generate a new folowing by hiring a great designer, etc. Too late - Canon, Nikon, Sony - they own this digital photography thing. Even Panasonic (pals with Leica) are streets ahead. Pentax, sadly, area piece of history. I still hold on dearly to my LX and a few SMC lenses - the best glass of their day.
