The part you're missing is that the whole point of these technological advances was to make getting the image you want into the real world as painlessly as possible. Once technical factors become something a person doesn't even have to consider, it'll just come down to who has the better image in their head.
Things have already sort have come to the point where anyone can press a button and have a properly focused and exposed picture ready to publish and share, but 99.99% of snapps still suck. It was never about the technology. It was always about the thing holding it, whether it's made of meat and bones or silicon and plastic.
