regular carry, field or city, however usually carry just one of the two cameras (FTb for /out/ due to no battery required), some tools, pliers etc. and a map of the surrounding forests/region for locations/camping. Lil medkit also helps.

Why carry an AE-1 with a 35-70 AND an FTb with a 50 when you can just carry one and keep the other lens in your bag?
I could understand if this was 40 years ago, you were doing sports, and you had one F-1 with a 300mm, and another with an 80-210; but you're not so you can take the time to change lenses and save on space.

I only own 2 cameras now, and I almost exclusively photograph with the digital GR.

The GR is in quite bad shape after owning it since it was released, but I can't let go of it. I am thinking of upgrading soon to another Ricoh so suggestions are welcome. Not the GR II though.

Nah, carry a lot cause I either lose them or give them away, mostly used for labeling which film rolls I've spent and which are new, or marking down places to go/have gone to on the map. Also the biggest reason I ended up shooting film was because of High school, was too bad at money management to buy a DSLR, so I bought an SLR, and developed the film at school. Stuck to film since, bought a scanner, but stopped developing them on my own, just paying $1.59 per roll at a local place for the negatives.

Why not? That's what I do with my camera. The only time I have to shoot is between work and home.

I don't use a bag for my camera but if I have a bag for some other reason, I throw my camera in there. Everything else fits in my jacket. I dread the hot weather when I can't use a jacket. I'm seriously considering getting a photographer's vest for when I can't wear my jacket. I also have a small water bottle I carry everyday but I couldn't get a good picture of it. I suck at this top down shit.

XAs are very delicate cameras and have ratcheting film advances like you'd see in a disposable, so it's understandable for something to go wrong there. Same thing where the shutter button is infamous for shitting the bed since it's a delicate electronic switch.

I love my GXR for the great colour rendition and dynamic range, though I only use / have the S10 and A12 M mount. it's light in the MP by today's standards but I honestly think it produces better 8x10s than my a6000. really good if you already have m mount or m39 glass

I rotate the film compact all the time though, it's more commonly a Konica AA-35 than the R1. And recently I've been mad and my edc film camera has been the Pentax 6x7.

The GR is -always- with me though, and I use it the most out of all my cameras. Can't wait for a GRIII that's rumored to be in the works.

Not much, obviously the 35-70mm has better DOF when pushed to 70mm. They're pretty on par, Canon is the manufacturer. However the "macro" on the 35/70 is fucking Non Existent.

An X100T is much easier to pack in a carry on backpack for 23+ hours of flying.

Yeah, that's what I'm suggesting, especially for guys like Friedlander and Winogrand and Bruce Golden and HCB and Frank. They may have had some concept of what they wanted before they walked out of the apartment, but a lot of what constitutes their work is reacting to surprising or unpredictable situations and having the insight to capture it. Yes I understand that and that's what I have been arguing all along. Photography is not my passion but I still cary my camera every day.

I actually have a lot of ambition with my photography. I'm terrible so I want to improve. I want to get better at composition and exposure. Things I learn every day. I don't accomplish this by using my camera only on vacation.

Think through what you want to accomplish before you set out. Your photos should communicate a subject - make sure that each one contributes to communicating something cohesive. Follow composition rules for a while, by the book, and once you get shit down, you'll be able to bend or break a few rules occasionally.
