>>3087706Ok, I take back the Newton rings or other physical issue theory. What happened is:
- your sensor has a cyclical, regular noise pattern at high sensitivities
- either the camera itself or software has applied lens geometry correction to the image, thus disrupting the regular repeating square pattern into a funky wavy one
- you cropped the image from the left and maybe from the top too which is why the distorted pattern now appeared off-centre
- after scaling the image down only a faint trace of the pattern remained, but it really does look like fucking Newton rings
I managed to process the full-size image to make the pattern really visible, I'll post it whenever someone starts as new /rpt/, don't want it to the the OP.
tl;dr everything is fine, 50D is shit at high ISO, denoise your images.
