Would it be correct to assume that Canon 5D Mark III/IV is the Macbook of computers or an iPhone? If so, is Nikon the equivalent of a Windows PC or an Android phone? Which one is the underdog here?

The 5D is not a TREND statement. It is a tool for professionals and for serious hobbyists. It's expensive price tag is not the same attitude as Macbook or iPhones being so expensive. Both the 5D and the Nikon equivalent are fantastic tools.

and then there's Sony that does what you want it to do with very high quality pictures, perfect color, lots of customization, etc. That's my experience with both brands anyway.

And the "they never post any pictures" meme is fucking real too.
I know two Sony users and both of them just wank over lens numbers and whenever they see a picture they zoom in to find the noise. They are on an Event just wanking over their lenses and their shutterspeeds, shooting trees hundreds of meters away to compare the fine detail instead of looking for actually interesting things to shoot.
Fucking hell, I watched them argue that a 24-70mm wide parfocal OSS lens is bad because if it wasn't, E-Mount would have one.

A99II is the comfiest camera I've ever shot with, and I've rented 1DX and D810i and loved every moment with those.

Nothing says "muh dick" like the flapping of a Nikon, and 1DX just feels like a vault door.

Having killed an A99, these cameras ARE tough, they just have a shit ton of features that most never take the time to learn.

Sony users here need to calm down with attack threads admittedly but then again, every day it's a Sony hate thread.

I'm sure there's gaslighting from Non-Sony users who are gear lusting but I've seen so many Sony cameras in Times Square lately that I'm basically impressed. It explains why the Sony Store in the city has Artisan walks all the time, went to one a few weeks back and really sharpened up my portrait skills.
