>>3095096>>3096306I have to concede defeat that picture of STS-1 has always been my absolute favorite shot of the Shuttle program it was the shot that got me interested in the Space Program.
I will say if any of you are in Florida to visit you need to do the Kennedy Space Center. Come see what it was like when this country had the world by the stones. I say that as a native, most of us hate tourist attractions in our state but that one is a must do, it should almost be on your bucket list.
>>3096308it absolutely wasn't a random shot I planned it from the moment I heard they were rolling out the last one and I had front row seats. I'm so sorry none of you got to experience that, the whole time I was there I was thinking, "/p/ would have a god damn field day here."
>>3095099thanks :) it's probably in my top 5 I've ever shot, I'll be back for more of this if SLS gets off the ground, I should be able to get a media pass again.
>>3098521Mine too, I went to Columbia Elementary when I was a kid. All of the schools in our area were named for the Shuttles and some of the people who flew on them.
Fun fact: the Endeavor was named in a contest amongst the schools by kids. NASA pieced it together from spare parts after Challenger exploded but didn't have a name for it so they turned to elementary school children to name it and some kid thought of that and NASA went with it.
