Instead of showing a lot of room around the birds, focusing on the main scene and so forth. Regarding the lot of pictures you're not pleased with, that's fine. For me personally, I find them compositionally interesting/pretty, not a tremendous amount of backthought put into them apart from the wedding snaps.
