A - trying to get every single thing in focus, no attention to the subject itself
For these, phone is good enough.
B - artistic depth of field used to make drama, high resolution subject and soft background.
For these, the world's best photog holding a phone will produce worse picture quality than an amateur who has been taught for 30 minutes how to do shallow DoF with a 35mm or medium format camera. They've had sports photogs shoot games with an iphone and the result was absolute 0/10 garbage, while that exact same person with their own DSLR shoots real drama.
Phone cameras are absolutely helpless at B. They are incapable of shallow DoF. They can only do it artificially in software which is ugly and does not mimic real life (not all objects in foreground/background are same distance, but photoshop does not know the position of objects which is why post-production blurs look like dogshit)
