Good thing is that it is a third party lens and not a real Minolta. This means it can be replaced for dirt cheap, $20-30 at most. Fixing the fungus on that lens would cost around $200-300 (if it is fixable at all), so buying another is considerably cheaper.
Though to be honest a real Minolta MD lens can be had for not much more. A 50mm can probably be found with a body for the price of the lens alone.
If you are looking for a zoom, the 35-70 f/3.5 macro is fantastic, and even holds its own against most modern zooms.
