I met Araki last year, at Photo London in Somerset House.
He was examining one of his larger prints and I was introduced to him by a representative of one of the galleries he works with.
He was gesticulating wildly toward his works and talking with an interpreter for quite a while, apparently about a collector in prague who had purchased one of the works on the wall. When I asked the interpreter how much an original Araki work would cost he briefly spoke with Araki and said to me in a quiet voice: "I need about tree fiddy."
Well, it was about that time that i noticed that Araki was about eight stories tall and was a crustacean from the paleolithic era. I said "dammit monster, you get out of this traditional artistic institution, i aint givin you no tree fiddy!." Araki said "Well how about just two fiddy?" I said "Oh now its just two fiddy!? What, is there a sale on large format C-Type prints or something?"
