Sup /p/hags.

So I shot a bunch of film on a road trip, mostly portra, one roll of ektar, and a couple rolls of natura 1600. I got the developed film back today and while scanning in the negatives, the portra looks great, but the shots I took with natura 1600 (pic related) are all fucking green and shit.

What gives? They were all metered fine, and typically natura 1600 oversaturates red if anything.

Did my lab fuck up, are my scanner setting fucked up, or am I a moron?

Kind of stupid question but what camera did you use to shoot natura? A fucking lot of compacts cannot read DX codes higher than 400 and whenever you use an out of range cartridge or one without DX coding at all they default to ISO 100.

Either of these will be correct. OP pic is underexposed to shit. Most likely your lab fucked up, I'd show them the negs and get a refund.

Anyone have some advice on bulk film ebay sellers?
There are some I've seen that have offered pretty good prices/shipping to Canada, but it always seems dodgy and I don't know if that's me just being overly suspicious.

Yeah, thanks, I was able to shoop it to about what you did here. I've got a roll of Ektar they developed I'll try and scan in today and if that's fucked up too, I'll know what the problem is. Going to go to them and bitch anyway.

Just look at their rating. Personally I hesitate to buy film from international sellers because it's probably going to go through a bunch of x-ray machines.

Here's another portra from the same set.

I dropped off some B&W and some Velvia 50 with them too. When I saw them throw all the C-41 film in the same bag and only separate the B&W and Velvia, I had a gut feeling this would happen.

The indoor light was probably fluorescent. Fluorescent lighting gives a greenish look in film. You have to correct for it with a filter.

All C41 film is developed exactly the same as it's a standard process, it's the scanning and colour-correcting part what changes a bit as you can see in >>3156834

I'd bet the machine your lab uses is not even calibrated for less common or higher speed stocks of film so either it applies other film preset or none at all. If I'm not mistaken that's related to the barcode next to the DX code.

I was going to suggest this, but wasnt sure due to the quality of the light.

Different CFLs have different spectra too, so a cheap fluorescent filter will likely only give a purple tinge on everything.

So the scanner is mine, and after scanning in the second roll of natura 1600 I shot (pic related), it looks like the roll with the OP shot was just a bad roll. It's odd because it came in the same shipment and scanner settings were the same.

I ordered the stuff in five packs of three, all came DHL from Japan in the same box. Who knows, maybe I fucked up loading it or something.

You sound pretty new to film. You shouldn't use a scanned image to judge ANYTHING about film. Vast majority of time I see people thinking something wrong happened during dev/saying film must've gone bad it's actually just shitty scan settings.

Your scans all look like shit, even the Portra. I'd be extremely surprised if this was anything other than a scanning issue.

Compare the negatives and buy yourself a loupe (<$5).

That could be the case. I am definitely new to film. You can actually see a line of dead pixels on the portra shot with the girl in it, and I returned that scanner for a replacement (epson v600).

Looking at the negs from the roll in question, they don't look so different, so I think I'll go back and try to scan them a couple more times now that I know I have a good unit.

Did I just buy a shitty scanner? I know they sell third party film holders, maybe that's a good investment. Here's another from the second natura roll I scanned, is this one shitty too? I guess I just have no reference point since I didn't order prints from the lab.
