Depending on the day, I've picked out the ones I like for that day (e.g., if I was shooting a show and planned to post the set on Facebook, or if I was doing a photoshoot and I picked out the good ones to edit and send to the model), but that can only narrow it down so much. Plus, going back with fresh eyes, there might be an old one I didn't like that much at the time that I like a lot more now.
To a certain extent, it would be picking from my favorite shots from each day, since I always pick out one Picture of the Day from whatever I've shot that day, but a lot of the time my picture of the day isn't really my favorite, because there are a few other considerations. E.g., if I take really good pictures of the same person two days in a row, I'll usually pick something else as POTD. If I do two photoshoots in a single day, I'll favor the model who's never been POTD even if I got better shots of the other one. And also, since I'm posting the shots, POTD has to be something safe and reasonably non-awkward for my mom and sister to look at since they follow me on social media.
And even just out of the Picture of the Day shots, that's still well over 3000 photos to search through and do tournament brackets for.
