I have a phone and I'm trying to make the most out of it. I travel every now and then in exchange for volunteer work. I only have a $30 Amazon GC I got from an old friend. I want something with at least some sort of customizability to accomodate my travel photo needs.

Does asking for sponsorship from big companies work?

Ask around family/friends for an old unused film body.

A properly scanned 135 negative has image quality as good if not better than most DSLRs.

Note 4X is cheap as fuck t b h, but I get it if that is also expensive for you. It is cheap with a fucking great performance in everything except one thing, though - camera, which is pretty fucking shitty. So don't consider buying it if you want to shoot a lot with it and don't have a proper camera on the side. I have it and love it, but I don't use it for photography at all.
