Can appreciate what he's doing, but his photos are so meh. I'm into the whole "mundane architecture" type stuff or whatever, which can be kind of boring but his stuff takes that to another level.

Brands look for derivative styles that the target demographic already knows.

I think he gets enough from his own photography work to support the photo and video gear. Also he's not opposed to selling gear if he really doesn't like it. Obviously though, parental wealth has been involved at some point.

I don't like the majority of his photos. The videos are good though.

It's clear he's a an enthusiast and not shooting commercially.
His style isn't even marketable.

The majority of his photography related income comes from the magazine I'd guess.

I've seen the video he did about the jeans company shoot. The photos were absolute rubbish. He put up a seamless backdrop with tape on a wall then showed the final image where he didn't even bother to crop in, so you can see the wall around the backdrop and the tape as well. Looks like unfinished shit. I've never seen something like that in a real commercial ad.

The reason he is popular is because he spends more time marketing himself than actually taking photos.

Its the guy behind the camera shooting and cutting the video who really deserves the praise. The production quality of the videos are far better than the photos hes actually taking.
