Also I almost got a mint condition photosniper with the full kit including the Zenit and the camo metal box but it quickly went to retarded heights on ebay. Now I have a DA* 300/4 and see how the 560/5.6 rental performs against the *300 + 1.4x TC.

Fun fact, the Sigma 50-500 can't resolve more detail than this.
Plus if used on a Pentax, the 1.7x TC has a focusing group, 500/6.3 with AF from a russian made manual telephoto with better performance than the Sigma super tele zooms.

The moon is a highly reflective white surface receiving direct sunlight. You're vastly overestimating the exposure time needed to take a picture of it.

Yeah I was able to pick one up mint for $AU200 plus shipping so I grabbed it. It comes in a giant leather case, said it was owned by some old russian who passed away, I like to think he was ex KGB

All in all the Tair is good but I think the build quality on Zenits is shit, it doesn't compare to a pentax at all

I have been so tempted to pick up an autosniper and try to hook it up to an a7ii with the techart pro.

Apparently you can make it work with the remote shutter even.

It is designed mainly for normal FL M-mount lenses. For extra leverage it is rated for 3x the mass of the heavier ones, meaning the body falls just inside the rated mass but not in the safe rating. It only needs time for the motor get hot enough to start losing performance and it will get hotter more easily next time and so on until it burns out.
That adapter is not meant for focusing on telephoto/moving the body mass.

I think only Canon and sometimes Pentax do this shit with their telephoto lenses. Supposedly it's because you're usually using them outside and the white colour will attract less light than the black and not allow the heat to fuck up all the elements inside. In reality I think it's more of a stylistic "look what I've got" brand choice, like the Canon red line on their high-end lenses.

This. Would definitely make a difference somewhere extremely sunny, but it's pretty minimal in most situations... my alloy gear is always cold to the touch. Plastic can get pretty warm, though.

If you've got it on a tripod you'll want to narrow the aperture and slow down the exposure time to compensate. Should help you achieve more sharpness on a relatively still object.

As far as I know it is a wide angle macro for special angles and insect macros.
Think about the towering foodstack shots in advertisements where the point of view makes yourself feel tiny as an ant. I can see some niche but interesting uses for it.

It also has to do with the internal elements and the curve of the glass. The Wikipedia page for focal length has some formulas you can plug numbers into. It only half makes sense to me, if I'm being honest.

In the most simple case, yes. If there is only one element, the focal plane is at the focal length. Once you start adding elements to correct distortion and aberrations, it gets really complicated real quick.
