Nikon D7500 or Canon 80D?

I'm leaning towards the Canon despite the Nikon technically being a better camera and get a nicer lens like the EF 24-105mm mark II. My budget is $2000-2500. What other configurations should I look at?

I would go Nikon for the 24 f1.8 as my next lens after the 50 but the rest is up to you, just don't fucking gimp yourself with that kind of budget to play with.

The pancake lenses are effected by crop factor as well, so I don't follow.

the jpgs do - that's what shows the blinkies on the lcd - but the 500/7500 raws have a ton of highlight leeway that is available once you open up the raw.

with that said.. just get a mirrorless, op. I wish I wasn't $10k into my system already or I'd just go sony FF.

no matter how new a crop sensor is it won't give you the same rendition a FF sensor does. this is governed by physics.

A pentamirror is a heck of a lot cheaper to make. A pentaprism is a brighter. Cheap cameras get the cheap solution.

Large pentaprisms are even more expensive and complicated to make. Expensive cameras get the expensive solution.

more than enough for what? I shoot sports/events/portraits. My 300 alone was 3k.

Now if you said "a crop sensor can't replicate what a FF sensor looks like shooting an 1.4 lens" or "a crop sensor can't get as fast, as wide as a FF can".. okay.

No you silly billy you. If you have a full-frame camera you're looking at a bigger mirror. I don't have a full-frame DSLR but I have a Nikon FE and the viewfinder image is huge compared to my D7000.
I'm thinking of picking up a second-hand D750 but maybe I should just wait, save, and get a D850 in the distant future. It's not like I'm in any hurry.
