Really depends on what you like to shoot. If you're into city stuff you'll find plenty. If you like nature/outdoors, there's some decent stuff within an hours drive. Chinatown and financial are fun for street photos.
City is nice overall. Lots of places to eat, people are friendly pretty diverse city with lots of ethnic areas. Public transit could be considered terrible if you're coming from asia, europe, nyc. Driving traffic is pretty bad.
