I actually used an E-300 for a few days and while the IQ at low ISO was pretty good, it was one of the most frustrating cameras otherwise.

Another cool thing is that an EVF can allow you to capture the image *before* the shutter press, eliminating muscle reaction time from the equation, but I've only seen this feature in a couple exotic cameras.
