I built my Hasselblad kit patiently looking for the best gear at the lowest price. Basically:
Mint body, 50mm, 80mm, 250mm, 2 backs, a Proshade compendium hood with two rings and few other things for less than 700 euros.
Just be patient.

Part of the issue is I am in Japan and the exchange rate sucks. Even so it is pricier over here than e-bay.

I will probably end up doing what you are eventually. But I scoured e-bay for months for my m-mount setup and am just fed up with doing so.

Yea, Yahoo Auctions is nice, but prices are roughly the same as ebay. Big difference is you can sometimes auctions slip through at a cheap price unlike e-bay.

I tried local camera stores and they are even more expensive.

My old man on the other hand bought a full mint (*completely* unused) set in its original case from 1977. The black body, an 80, 150 and 50mm and two magazines. How fucking lucky can you get.

I bought that from an old local photography shop, it's used from the 80's and it used to carry underwater photography grear. It's waterproof and indestructible as it has solid wood inside under the aluminium thick cover. I bought brand new the black foam inside and customized it to fit the case and to hold everything I need.
I paid for it 25 euros, you should look for old ones, cheaper and stronger.

Aus seems to have the worst camera prices, despite being beside Japan. Follow a guy on IG that resells cameras over there. Prices are hilarious. $1900 AUD for a Contax G2 + 45mm, yet people will pay for it.

I just tested it for fast candid street shooting, the little fucker does it impressively. silent, stealthy, no lag, lightweight and really small for a 35mm film camera.

(AA battery size for comparison)
