can you see the difference between right and left part of the photo ? there's a lack of sharpness with 60 % of my photos, with my 10-22.

depth of field? your lens cant focus on everything in the picture at the same time.. f8 isn't enough I guess.

that's not depth of field.

subject was just before the middle of the bridge (maybe 80m)

Background on both left and right edges look soft to me but left is worse.
Only the center is sharp.

I would shoot some test charts.
Is the foreground always OK?

It's a defective lens. I had a similar issue with a canon 16-35 L. I couldn't figure out what was going on with it. Even on a flat plane, I could only either get the left side of the photo in focus or only the right side. How long have you had the lens? And have you ever dropped it?

Ummm I know this might seem like a wrong point to you, but f/8 is nowhere near the correct f-stop for this image. You should have stopped down more. F/8 is not the cacth all aperture. Also Lees Ferry, so stop down more, or do image stacking focusing on a different part of the scene.

For a wide angle that's perfectly fine. The issue isn't depth of field, it's an issue with the actual lens

At 22mm f/8 gives him a hyperfocal distance of just 3.2 meters.

I also suspect that lens is sharpest around f/8.

I have nearly the same issue with a 10-22 and it ended up being a cracked frame in the less that everything else mounts to. It's made out of glass reinforced polycarbonate.

It's about $200 to fix is the quote I got.
